Eloise Hashagen

August 13, 1928 — February 22, 2023

Eloise Deskins Hashagen, 94, a longtime resident of Glen Burnie, passed away peacefully at her home on February 22, 2023. She was born in Sinks Grove, West Virginia to the late Palmer and Alice Deskins. After graduating from high school, Eloise left West Virginia and joined her family in Baltimore where she met her future husband, Charles. She began a career as a bank teller and through most of her life, served as treasurer for multiple associations. Eloise was actively involved in The Ostomy Society, Gerard Plaza Improvement Association, Glen Lutheran Church and NCEON. A stranger to no one and a trusted friend to many, she was well known for her church dinners, pies and cakes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 63 years, Charles Henry Hashagen; and her brother, Quentin “Buzz” Deskins.

Eloise is survived by her loving, children, Gary Hashagen and Patricia Stratmann; loving daughter-in-law and son-in-law, Kay Hashagen and Larry Stratmann; former daughter-in-law, Lisa Petty; cherished grandchildren, Luke (Marlene), Erika (Daniel), Kathryn (Thomas), Laura, Kelly, Micah, Alex (Daniela), Gavin (Molly) and Carly (Mark); beloved great-grandchildren, Adrian, Samantha, Miguel, Diego, Levi, Tessa, Caleb, Ryan, Adam, Addison, Aiden, Annisa and Johanna; and dear brother, Ivan “Jim” Deskins.

The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy) on Friday, March 3rd, from 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM. A Celebration of Life service will immediately follow at 12:30 PM in the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow at Meadowridge Memorial Park. The family would like to thank Kelly Maksim and the many hours she spent caring for and sitting by her grandmother's bedside and Hospice of the Chesapeake for their support and care.
