Mr. Ernest E. "Woody" Woodrum, 72, of Severn, Maryland passed away on February 16, 2011 at home after a lengthy illness. Ernest was born in Washington, DC in 1938. He retired from the US Coast Guard in 1976 after 20 years of service. After retirement, he was a commercial crabber in Maryland and North Carolina. Ernest was a member of VFW #2462, American Legion Post #40 in Glen Burnie, Disabled American Veterans and the Moose Lodge in North Carolina. He loved to fish and crab and enjoyed spending time with his family. His greatest enjoyment was watching his great-grandson. He was the beloved husband of 48 years of Mary Jo Woodrum; devoted father of Debora Sanner and husband Michael; loving grandfather of Alan W. Smithson, Jr., Jason N. Smithson and Christopher A. Smithson; cherished great-grandfather of Katie and Adam Smithson; adored son of Emma I. Woodrum; dear brother of Mary E. Willoughby and Jackie Davis and husband Paul. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy Ann Woodrum, his father, Jack H. Woodrum and his brother John D. Woodrum.
