Frances Varholy

On December 12, 2017, Frances Mildred Varholy, 91, of Glen Burnie, passed away in her home. Frances was born on October 27, 1926, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Wilhelmenia and Thorvald Jacobsen. She was a homemaker most of her life and also volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Frances enjoyed duckpin bowling. She earned the house record at Greenway Bowl - 217 game / 488 - set, on March 24, 1981. She also enjoyed hooking rugs, crossword puzzles, baking sugar cookies at Christmas time, gardening, and traveling the world (especially Denmark where she visited family members in 1990).
Frances was predeceased by her devoted husband of 40 years, Edward Varholy, and her sister, Charlotte Jacobsen. She is survived by her loving children, Bruce Varholy, Steven Varholy, and Cindy Stockhausen; her cherished grandchildren, Heather, Lauren, Jordan, Michael, Beth, and Matt; her beloved great-grandchildren, Joshua, Benjamin, and Samantha; her dear brother, Alfred Jacobsen; three step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and one nephew.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave, SW (at Crain Hwy), in Glen Burnie, on Monday, December 18th, from 3-5 & 7-9 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, December 19th, at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Brooklyn Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Frances' name may be made to the SPCA of Anne Arundel County, 1815 Bay Ridge Ave, Annapolis, MD 21403 OR St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org/donate.
