On March 2nd, 2006 Fred G. Heppding, Sr. "Poppy" was called to the Lord. Fred was predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years, Pauline Heppding. A true family man, Fred is survived by his lovely daughters Pauline Hill, Kalvin Schindler, Alphadine Earle, Linda Deshler and Marsha Yazel, his beloved son Fred G. Heppding, Jr., his brothers Harry, Eddie and Gene Heppding, his precious sisters Elsie Atkinson and Rene Snyder, 21 grandchildren, two of which, Mindy Miles and Heidi Wright were raised by Fred and Pauline, 37 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild Makayla Lane who he adored. Fred was predeceased by his brothers Henry, Marcela and John Heppding; his sister Elizabeth Hyson; his beautiful daughters Judy Moss and Pamela Miles, his grandson Jody Poteet and granddaughter Candace Hill.
Born in Maryland, Fred proudly served his country in WWII before returning stateside for his lifelong career as a ship fitter at Bethlehem Steel. Fred continued living in Maryland throughout his retirement, spending the last several years under the loving care of his granddaughter Beth Woolford in Pasadena. Fred, known widely as Poppy, liked nothing better than to spend time with and brag about his family. He also greatly enjoyed fishing, crabbing and watching The Price is Right. Always quick with a joke and a smile, Fred will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
