Garth Ridler of Marina California passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018 from an apparent heart attack. He is survived by his devoted wife, Darlena (Howard) Ridler. He was born in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and lived close to there before he moved to Marina. He also lived in Glen Burnie, MD; San Francisco, CA; and Germany as the family traveled with his Dad to his Army duty stations. He is preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Elizabeth (Strausbaugh) Ridler and his sisters in law, Cheryl and Katherine Howard. He graduated from Glen Burnie High School and Anne Arundel Community College. He worked on several jobs during his lifetime but spent the most time as a manager at Budget Rent-a-Car and Snyder's of Hanover. Garth was a long time member of Marina Lions and the City of Marina Public Works Commission. He was passionate about his son Michael Ridler and fiancé Amy Shugart, and his grand kids: Bailey, Danielle, Dustin, and Lily. He is survived by his beloved brother and wife, Kim and Colleen Ridler, brothers in law, and many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. His hobbies included hunting and working with tools. He really cherished the annual hunting camp in Pennsylvania on his family's orchard, so much so that his schedule each year revolved around this opportunity to reconnect with life-long friends and to spend very special time with family members. He was always ready for any discussion about the Pittsburg Steelers and the San Francisco Giants. He even got a picture with the Giants three World Series trophies they earned while we were in Marina.
