George Brooks Jr

George Warren Brooks, Jr., 96, of Glen Burnie passed away on April 27, 2018 at his residence.

George was born in Baltimore to the late George W. Brooks, Sr. and Marie Anna (Schillinger) Lauterbach. During his childhood he enjoyed spending time with his grandfather who was one of Baltimore's Arabs. It was during this time that George's strong work ethic was cultivated. George joined the United States Navy in 1941 and served during WWII. After the war George came back and married the love of his life Mae Buellis. Together George and Mae raised their three children and instilled in them good values that they carried into adulthood. George worked for Texaco Oil for many years as a Truck Driver and finally as a Warehouseman. He was a member of Andover Baptist Church, where he loved greeting members on Sunday. He was also a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion. He enjoyed watching the Orioles, Baltimore Colts, and Ravens, but most of all spending time with his family and making memories with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one daughter Terri Ann Miller. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Mae Brooks; daughter, Diane Berry (Larry); son, Mark Brooks (Gayle); 7 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy) on Thursday, May 3rd, from 3-5 & 7-9 PM. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday at 10 AM at Andover Baptist Church in Linthicum. Interment Meadowridge Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to V.F.W.
