Gertrude Young

Gertrude J. Young, 98, of Severn, passed away on January 25, 2022. She was born in Baltimore, one of ten, to the late John and Mary Blanchfield of Severna Park. She retired as a librarian from Anne Arundel County and was a dedicated member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, traveling and was a voracious reader. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas E. Young Sr.

Gertrude is survived by her devoted children, Timothy J. Young, Thomas E. Young Jr. and his wife, Elaine, Judith A. McKusky and her husband, Joseph, Susan G. Vetere and her husband, Robert, Stephen A. Young and Gregory B. Young and his wife, Linda; nine cherished grandchildren; 17 loving great-grandchildren; and one beloved great-great-grandson.

The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy) on Sunday, January 30th, from 2 – 6 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held privately at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Interment Glen Haven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 6405 S. Orchard Road, Linthicum, MD 21090.
