Gilbert Decker

March 15, 1942 — June 2, 2008

On June 2, 2008, Gilbert L. Decker passed on. Gil is survived by his loving siblings, James Decker, and his wife Dottie, Richard Decker, and his wife Joanne, Jo Anne Engel and her husband Gil, Cheryl Barker, Helen Miller and her husband Ron. He is also survived by a loving number of family members including 11 nieces and nephews, their children, a wonderful aunt and many cousins. Gil was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1942 to the late Teresa M. and James T. Decker, Sr. He served in the United States Navy as a signalman on the destroyer, U.S.S. Duncan, during the Vietnam War. For his service, he received a Vietnam Service Medal and a First Good Conduct Medal Award for the period ending September 28, 1965. He later was employed by Amtrak for over 20 years. Gil was a member of the VFW (Glen Burnie) Post 160 and the American Legion Post 276. Gil enjoyed playing and watching golf, and loved his German Shepherd, Bingo.
