Herbert Saffield Jr

Herbert A. Saffield, Jr., 78, of Glen Burnie passed away on December 17, 2016. Herb was born on April 1, 1938 in Baltimore. He retired after 30 years of service as the Ft. Meade Fire Chief. He enjoyed working out with his friends at the gym, working around his home and in his workshop. Herb was everyone's helper and friend. He was very proud of his whole family, especially his two grandsons serving in the military.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Helwig.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Mary Ellen Saffield; his two children, Herbert A. Saffield, III and his wife, Nancy; Alison M. Scott and her husband, Ray; his grandchildren, Drew Scott, David Scott, Wayde Saffield, Shelby Teague, Emily Saffield and Nathan Saffield; his great-grandchildren, Chloe, Violet and Laila.

The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy) on Monday, January 2nd from 11-1 PM; with a Memorial Service to follow at 1 PM in the funeral home chapel.
