Hubert Atwater, Jr

On March 13, 2008, Hubert Lee Atwater, Jr. passed on. Hubert was dearly loved by his cherished wife of 47 years, Miriam (Mimi) P. Atwater; his beloved children, Hubert Lee Atwater, III and Kimberly A. Anderson; his dear brothers, Robert C. and Charles S. Atwater; his late parents, Hubert L. Sr. and Snowden C. Atwater; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Hubert was born in Durham, North Carolina in 1938. He was a member of the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1959. He was then employed as a civilian with the federal government for 31 years from which he retired in 1991. During his career, he received the Meritorious Civilian Service Award in 1982. Hubert was a member of the Masonic Lodge 352 and the North Glen Baptist Church. At the church, he served as a Trustee and was both a Treasurer and a Youth Sunday School Teacher. He was also the past president of the Maryland Chapter of the American Liver Foundation. Hubert was a fan of the ACC (University of North Carolina) sports. He enjoyed many hobbies including piloting fixed-wing airplanes and boating. He loved visiting his vacation home in West Virginia. Hubert was a family-oriented man and loved spending time with his family and being a grandfather. He was a dear man who will be missed by many.
