Irene Frank

Irene Blanche Frank, 96, formerly of Fort Smallwood Rd., passed away on Dec. 12, 2017 surrounded by her family. Irene was born in Shawver Mill, VA to the late Frank A. and Mary E. (Shufflebarger) Childress. She lived most of her life in MD. She moved to Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville in 2006. She worked for the IRS for a short time in Baltimore. Along with her husband, Walter and their children they built a Well Drilling business in Anne Arundel CO. They then expanded the business to LaPlata and Colonial Beach, VA. Irene was very active in Arundel Cove and Solley Methodist Churches, serving as Treasure for the United Methodist Women's Society. She enjoyed travel, bingo, and playing cards.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband; children, Billy, Carolyn, and Kenny. She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis and her husband Ron; sons, Robert and his wife Connie, and Mike; six grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave, SW, (at Crain Hwy), Glen Burnie, on Wed., Dec. 20, from 3 to 5 PM and 7 to 9 PM, for a visitation. A Celebration of Irene's life will be held on Thursday, Dec. 21, at 10:00 AM in the funeral home Chapel. Interment will follow at Moreland Memorial Park. In Lieu of flowers, please support your charity of choice of Arthritis, Alzheimer, or a Heart Fund.
