Jack Aftung

February 20, 1932 — April 11, 2013

On April 11, 2013 Jack Aftung, a resident of Severn for 33 years, passed away at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. He was born in Odenton, MD on February 20, 1932 to the late John and Myrtle Aftung. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1952-1954. He retired as Chief after 32 years of service with Fort Meade Fire Department; after retiring from the fire department, he went on to work with the Anne Arundel Police Department, Eastern District for 22 years. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling, dancing, Country music and was an avid Orioles and Ravens fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Craig Aftung. He is survived by his wife, Jan; three children, Kevin Aftung, Debra Mason and Charlaina Vogt; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1850 York Road, Ste.
