James Baxter

December 27, 1941 — September 6, 2008

On September 6, 2008, James Walter Baxter of Glen Burnie. Beloved husband of the late Pok Ye Baxter; loving father of Sally Gonzales, Debbie Sides, Elaine Baxter, and Walt Baxter; cherished grandfather of two; dear brother of Elaine Snyder. James was born in Michigan in 1941. He served in the U.S. Army and later retired from the Army as Sergeant First Class. During that time, he received numerous medals including Good Conduct Medal,Purple Heart, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Silver Star, Bronze Star, Air Medal, Soldiers Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, and Expert Badge Rifle M16. James was a member of the American Legion Post 40, VFW, and NRA. He enjoyed many hobbies including reading, guns, fishing, hunting, movies, and collecting many different things. Mr. Baxter will be laid to rest at Arlington National on September 30, 2008 at 11am.
