James (Jim) William Booker, Jr., son of the late James and Pauline Booker, was born on May 26, 1921 in Baltimore, Maryland. Jim's loving wife of 54 years, Rita G. (Christman) Booker, preceded him in death. His marriage was blessed with a large and loving family. He leaves behind his son James (Jim) W. Booker, III, and his wife Rose; daughter, Linda (Booker) McCabe and her husband Larry; 4 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a godson. Jim was the oldest of five surviving siblings. His brothers Henry Booker and William Booker preceded him in death. His sister, Eunice Morris, resides in Linthicum as does his brother Robert (Bob) Booker and his sister-in-law Betty Booker. Jim attended Anne Arundel County Public Schools. He served during World War II in the Marines from May 1942 until March 1946 when he was injured on the island of Saipan. Jim was shipped stateside to Philadelphia Naval Hospital where he met and subsequently married Rita. He retired as a diesel mechanich from Matlack Trucking. Jim was a member of the Masonic Order, Howard Lodge and a member of the Glen Burnie Elks. In recent years, Jim's favorite pastime was to observe wildlife from the windows of Peartree Assisted Living and to ride his scooter down to the water and watch the boats go by.
