On February 17, 2009, James William Helphenstine, Sr. of Glen Burnie, Maryland; beloved husband of 51 years of Phyllis Helphenstine; loving father of Scherry Belz, Donald Helphenstine, Frances Helphenstine, Clifton Helphenstine and the late Clinton and James Helphenstine, Jr.; dear brother of Edith Wyman; cherished grandfather of twenty and great-grandfather of 28. James was born in Washington, D.C. in 1922. He was a member of the Merchant Marines during World War II. His team transported ammunition for the military. He was a Truck Driver with National Bohemian Brewery for 26 years. He was a member of the Pascal Senior Center and El Bethel Church in Pasadena. He liked to go to Carol's Western Wear Friday Night Music. He played the harmonica, horseshoes and really liked country music.
