James Helton, Jr.

James Augusta Helton, Jr., (Jim, Tex), 78, of Glen Burnie, Maryland, passed away at home on Sunday, May 16th 2021. He was born on November 17, 1942 in Texas, to the late Ruby and James Helton, Sr. He proudly served in the United States Air Force. He loved golfing, watching movies, and spending time with the love of his life, Bea, and their family. He was a member of the American Legion Post 40 and the VFW.

He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Beatrice Helton, his son, Calvin (Toni), daughter, Rachel (Brent), son, Greg (Jariel), daughter, Taren and daughter Suzanne (Kenneth), his brother Michael (Brenda) his sister in laws, Bessie (Louis Sr.), and Ellen (Charles Sr.), brother in laws, Joseph Sr.(Carolyn), Carroll (Carmelita), and Hurdie . Along with 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephew and friends, and a special thanks to Kevin Fowlkes. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Mable and Tommie Sue, and his brother Calvin.

The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, 1 2nd Avenue, S.W. (at Crain Hwy) in Glen Burnie, on Friday, May 21st, from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. Interment to follow at Meadowridge Memorial Park in Elkridge. The family requests that everyone please wear a mask and for no video or photos be taken during visitation. In lieu of flowers the family would request donations to be made in honor of James to the American Legion Post 40 or to the American Lung Association.
