On Sunday, December 31, 2006, James Oliver McGehee, Sr. of Glen Burnie passed away at the Pear Tree House in Pasdadena. James was predeceased by his first wife Elizabeth, as well as his second wife, Marie. He is survived by his children, Joan Bauer, James McGehee Jr., Jane Hill, and step-daughter Shirley Miles. James is also survived by eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
James graduated from Baltimore City College in 1938 and went into the U.S. Army in 1940. He worked as a chemical operator at E.I. DuPont de Nemours for 20 years. He then became a supervisor at Universal Foods for another 20 years.
James was a member of the Boy Scouts of America from 1930-1990, in which he was the Troop leader for Troop 493 in Brooklyn Park for 15 years. He was also a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows for over 60 years and he was a Past Grand Master.
James enjoyed camping, hiking, and enjoyed the outdoors.
