James Roland Phelps, 92, of Catonsville, Maryland, formerly of Linthicum, passed away on August 21, 2021. James was born in Baltimore, on April 19, 1929, to the late Edna and Vernon Phelps. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps and he went on to work as a repairman for Bell Atlantic. James was proud of his service as an usher at Our Lady of the Angels Chapel at Charlestown and he crafted many items in the woodshop at Charlestown as well. He enjoyed woodworking and golfing.
James was predeceased by his devoted wife, Celeste Phelps. He is survived by his loving daughters, Pamela Kimmell and Susan Macey. He is also survived by beloved partner in life of the last 24 years, Jean Semotan and her daughters, Amy (Mike) Holtzner, and Lisa (Jim) Frost; his eight cherished grandchildren, and twenty dear great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at Our Lady of the Angels Chapel, 711 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville, MD 21228, at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in James’ name be made to Charlestown Senior Living Community Benevolent Care Fund.
