James Shaw

On November 14, 2016, James Walter Shaw, 81, passed away at Hospice of the Chesapeake Inpatient Care Center. James was born in 1935 to the late Catherine and Joseph Shaw, in Baltimore, and graduated from Mt. St. Joseph High School in 1953. He served his country proudly in the National Guard in the late 50's and early 60's and went on to work for U.S. Food Service for over 50 years. James was a member of Walden Golf Club, and in retirement, he worked at Compass Pointe Golf Course and volunteered at Holy Trinity Catholic Church keeping the grounds. He was an avid golfer, cheering on the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame football, watching his grandson play soccer for North County, and lawn care & gardening.
James is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Bernardine J. Shaw; his beloved children, James P. Shaw and his wife Betty, Colleen A. Crossman and her husband Brett, and Kathleen M. Shaw; his loving grandchildren, Brendan J. Crossman, Mollie E. Crossman, and Elizabeth Marks; and his dear brother, John F. Shaw and his wife Tracy. In addition to his parents, James was predeceased by his brother, Joseph A. Shaw, Jr.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave, SW (at Crain Hwy), in Glen Burnie on Sunday, November 20th, from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 21st, at 11 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 7436 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd, Glen Burnie, MD 21061. Interment Meadowridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in James' name may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church OR Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Hwy, Pasadena, MD 21122.
