James A. Spieker Jr., 72, of Glen Burnie, passed away at his home on July 8, 2020. He was born in Tacoma, Washington to the late Edith O. and James A. Spieker Sr. Growing up, his family moved around a lot due to his father serving in the military. He has lived in Washington, Georgia, New York, the Philippines, Maine, Florida and Maryland. He graduated from Limestone High School in Maine and also attended Anne Arundel Community College. He was employed with the Maryland State Highway. In his earlier years, he was in business selling and making leather goods with his good friend. James enjoyed attending the Apple Fest in Bigler, PA and was an avid sports fan. He collected numerous memorabilia and had various unique items signed by famous sport figures. James is survived by his loving siblings, Patricia Hilgert, Ronald Spieker, Jean Taylor, Mark Spieker, Susan Arend, Lynn Klein and Ann Leigh; 18 beloved nieces and nephews; 17 great-nieces and great-nephews; one Goddaughter; one Godson; and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Anthony Spieker; and his sister, Mary Sander.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy), on Monday, July 13th, from 1-2 PM. A memorial service will immediately follow at 2 PM in the funeral home chapel. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are only allowing 40 people inside the funeral home at one time and requiring masks for all visitors. We kindly ask that you please keep your visit brief, as there may be people waiting to get into the funeral home.
