James Clifton Spriggs, son of the late Sarah Evelyn Carter and the late James Solomon Spriggs, died at home on June 5, 2013 at the age of 76. James, known to friends and family as "Bunky", was born June 16, 1936. He received his education in Anne Arundel public schools and graduated from Wiley H. bates High School in 1954. He served in the United States Army and later as an officer with the Baltimore City Police Department. He later worked for the State of Maryland as a district court commissioner in Anne Arundel County, retiring in 2002. Bunky was an active member of Faith Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with his family, photography, traveling and was an avid fan of car racing, especially the Indianapolis 500. He was also known for his strong opinions and loved discussing politics.
He is survived by his aunts, Jane Stokes (Howard), Daisy DuBose (late Milford); uncle, Joseph Howard; brothers, Robert Spriggs (Frances), Ronald Spriggs (Louise) and Charles Carter (Shannon); sisters, Andrea Davis (Joseph), Vanessa Carter and Gracie Anne Smith; and a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
