Jean Brown

Jean Austin Brown, 93, of Glen Burnie passed away peacefully on January 19, 2018 at her daughter's home with her family at her side.
Jean was born on July 28, 1924 to the late Ralph Marsh and Roxie Magnolia (Burleson) Austin in Statesville, NC. Jean was born into a large and loving family. She graduated from Statesville High School in 1942. She married the love of her life the late Ralph G. Brown on June 25, 1951 in Statesville, NC. She moved to Maryland in 1951 following her husband's new employment opportunity. Jean was a devoted Volunteer for the Veterans Hospital and had over 39,000 volunteer hours. Jean was also Past Grand President of the State of Maryland's M.O.C.A chapter, the V.F.W Axillary, and a member of Solley United Methodist Church. However Jean's priority was her family and spending time with them. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband; parents, 3 sisters; and 1 brother. She leaves to cherish as precious memories, her children, Roxie Brown and husband, John Cly, Ralph "Andy" Brown and wife, D.D, Leslie Hinkleman and husband, Doug, Jenny McColgan, and Kevin Brown; her siblings, George Austin and Lillie Shoemaker of N.C; 10 beloved grandchildren; 9 cherished great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives, and friends.

The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy) on Wednesday from 3-5 & 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 10 AM in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in, MD Veterans-Crownsville where she will be laid to rest with her husband. The family invites you to join them for a celebration of life following the interment at the Harry L Cooper VFW Post 160, 2597 Dorsey Rd, Glen Burnie, MD 21061.
