JoAnn Behegan (nee Forsht), 86, a resident of Glen Burnie for 76 years, passed away on September 4, 2016. She was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania to the late Robert I. and Evelyn Forsht.
She is survived by her children, Robert Bruce Behegan and wife Beverly and Beth Ann Behegan; grandchildren, Robert Shawn Behegan and wife Jamie, Heather Behegan Gray and husband Jonathan; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Livia and Alec Behegan and Gabriel and Adelaine Gray; siblings, Edward Forsht, Diane Sapp and Judith Earnest, numerous nieces and nephews and their children.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, William and Robert.
JoAnn spent her life giving to others, nothing gave her greater pleasure. She was a single mother, long before the term was coined and made sure her children never wanted for anything. She was generous to a fault and never arrived anywhere without a bag of gifts or a stack of the latest photos of her great grandchildren. She was a member of Glen Burnie Improvement Association and has been the greeter at the monthly meetings for many years. She also volunteered at The Big Glen Burnie Carnival, having a hand in making every snack basket ever won. She attended Young at Heart at GBUMC, and she pulled over for every yard sale she saw.
She has left a void that can never be filled, but we were so lucky to have had her in in our lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be sent to GBIA, 19 Crain Highway South, Glen Burnie, MD 21061. We will be purchasing a piece of playground equipment in her memory. No one loved kids more than JoJo.
