John Edward Balonis, 76, of Pasadena, passed away on September 22, 2020. He was born in Baltimore to the late Edward and Gertrude Balonis. A proud veteran, he honorably served his country in the Army from 1961-1964. He retired in 2006 after 25 years of service with the federal government. John was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 40 and shared his membership with Post 187. John, known to some as Johnny B, loved to DJ and was the proud owner of Pasadena DJ. He also enjoyed football, boating, crabbing and old cars. After retirement, he restored a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air which was his pride and joy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Edward Balonis; and his stepson, David Brown.
John is survived by his devoted wife of 26 years, Chris; loving son and step-daughters, John Balonis Jr. and his wife, Cynthia, Mandy Balonis and Trisha Brown; beloved grandson, Brett Balonis; cherished great-granddaughter, Skylar; and his dear sister, Joyce Harvey and her husband, Wilson. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, Glen Burnie, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM on Sunday, Sept. 27th. A graveside service will be held on Monday, 11 AM, at Glen Haven Memorial Park.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are only allowing 40 people inside the funeral home at one time and requiring masks for all visitors. We kindly ask that you please keep your visit brief, as there may be people waiting to enter the funeral home.
