John Joseph (Samuel) Basciano passed away on Saturday September 21, 2018 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford Delaware. He was born April 13, 1927 in Baltimore Maryland to the late Nicholas, a former professional boxer, and Margaret (Ranzino) Basciano. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Merchant Marines during WWII, and in the Army during the Korean War. He remembers those times of traveling the world as some of the greatest adventures of his life. After his service, he went on to establish a successful plumbing and heating company, J and R Plumbing, which he started with his late brother, Richard. The company, currently run by his youngest son, served many in Baltimore and the surrounding counties for almost 60 years. John's tireless work ethic combined with his irreplaceable humor left a lasting impression on the many he worked with, his neighbors, and his family. John enjoyed watching his Orioles, Colts/Ravens and boxing, playing cards, playing with his dogs and telling stories. He especially cherished spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Some of John's fondest memories were of him and his brother, Richard, as kids selling Sun Papers in Baltimore during the hard times of the depression - they were inseparable throughout their lives.
John is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Susan M. Basciano; his beloved daughters, Margaret and Kimberly, and his three sons Nicholas, John, and Christopher; his eight cherished grandchildren, and two loving great-grandchildren; and his dear sister, Marietta Restivo. John was predeceased by his eldest sister, Lola Marsiglia and his brother, Richard Basciano.
