John Hardy Burton, 91, of St. Augustine, Florida, formerly of Severn, Maryland, passed away on August 26, 2021. John was born in Glen Burnie, on February 1, 1930, to the late Myrtle and Leonard Burton. He graduated from Glen Burnie High School and went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Baltimore. John served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1954 as a Sergeant, and he went on to work at Joseph J. Hock, Inc. for 43 years, working his way up to Vice President of the company. John loved spending time with his family and friends; but he also loved sports – the Ravens, Orioles, and bowling, as well as travelling, attending festivals, reading, walking, gardening, crabbing, and watching TV – especially British shows and western movies.
John was predeceased by his devoted wife of 53 years, Dolores Katherine Burton, and his four dear siblings, Leslie Kowalewski, Joseph Burton, Leonard Burton, and Bruce Burton. He is survived by his loving children, Debra Jean DeAngelo and her husband Frank R. DeAngelo, and John Frank Burton and his wife Carolina Burton; his cherished grandchildren, Erika Leigh DeAngelo, LoriAnne Hutchinson, Frank Leonard DeAngelo, Dylan Joshua Burton, and Sebastian Burton; and five beloved great-grandchildren.
John’s services will be Private. In lieu of flowers, the Burton family requests memorial contributions in John’s name be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 www.stjude.org
