John E. Hall, 78, a resident of Glen Burnie for 52 years, passed away on September 24, 2015 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. He was born in Waukegan, Illinois on November 29, 1936 to the late James T. and Alma (Reed) Hall. John attended the Midwest School of Radio Broadcasting and shortly after, enlisted in the military. He served his country proudly in the United States Army from 1959-1962. John and his wife moved to Maryland after he was discharged from the Army and went on to work for the government, retiring after 33 years of service with the Department of Defense. His family also lived in England from 1980-1983. He volunteered with Armed Forces Radio, the Children's Cancer Foundation and most recently with Partners in Care. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, reading, writing and playing strat-o-matic baseball. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Paige Hall in 1986.
John is survived by his wife of 53 years, Pauline (Porter) Hall; son, Wayne P. Hall and his wife Karen; two grandchildren, Andrew William and Samantha Paige Hall; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 2nd, 11 AM, at Glen Burnie United Methodist Church. The family will receive visitors in the church social hall from 10 AM-11AM.
