John Jones

July 28, 1943 — October 15, 2017

John L. Jones, 74, of Millersville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 15, 2017. John was born in Richmond, VA, to the late Hallie and Lynnwood Jones. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. John worked as a foreman supervisor at Corman Construction and he enjoyed golfing, gambling, and he loved sports.
John is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years, Jennie; his beloved sons, Brian J. Jones and his wife Jeanine and Robert Merson and his wife, Melody; his dear siblings, Dorothy Schools, Jimmy Jones, Robert Jones, Eva Jones, Bonnie Jones, Russell Wright, and Douglas Wright; his six cherished grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his sister, Margaret Taylor, and his step-mother, Irma Jones.
Visitation will be held at Singleton Funeral and Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy) on Friday, October 20th, from 3-5 and 7-9 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, October 21st, at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment Glen Haven Memorial Park.
