John “Tommy” Thompson, of Pasadena, passed away on June 18, 2023 at the age of 66 after a brief battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He was born in Maryland on March 19, 1957, to the late John and Helen Thompson. Tommy grew up in Ellicott City, where he graduated from Wilde Lake High School in 1975. Post high school, Tommy went into the hospitality industry and, for the last 30 years, owned a successful food service business in Westminster.
Tommy grew up spending summers with his family on the water, boating, swimming, and crabbing. Throughout his adult life, his passion for the water and boating never faded. He spent most of his free time on a boat or near the water. Those who knew Tommy knew him for his generosity, his quick wit, great puns, and always having time for a chat. And those who knew him also knew that his furry children, Josie, Jewels, and Jazz, were the light of his life. Tommy will be missed every day.
Tommy is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Beth Thompson; his two sisters, Laurie O’Neil (son Brian) and Cindy Guest (husband Greg); his father-in-law, Jack McDonald. His parents, John and Helen Thompson, mother-in-law, Janice McDonald, and uncle, Donald Krahling, preceded him in death.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, 4760 Mountain Road, Pasadena, on Saturday, September 23, at 11:00am; reception to immediately follow.
