John Wassell Sr

John "Walter" Wassell, SR, 68, of Westernport, passed away Friday, November 25, 2011 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland. Born October 16, 1943 in Severn, he was the son of the late George Albert and Esther Gertrude (Griffith) Wassell SR. An infant daughter, Rachael Catherine Wassell, two brothers, Henry and George Wassell and a sister, Rae Brown, also preceded him in death. Walter was a member of the Teamsters Union. He also worked in construction. He leaves behind his wife Patricia (Wiser) Wassell, two sons, John Walter Wassell and wife Jennifer of Columbia and Paul Edward Wassell and wife Stacy of Westernport. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Chelsea, Sierra and Colton Wassell of Westernport, and Austin, Victoria and Grayson Wassell of Columbia, a brother, Carvel Wassell and wife Judy of Georgia, a sister, Ann Chaney and husband Lester of Millersville, and his two best friends and companions, his puppies Misty and Smokey. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the donor's preferred animal shelter.
