Jonathan Dayton

June 21, 1955 — October 27, 2010

On October 27, 2010, Jonathan Robert Dayton, 55, of Linthicum passed away. Jon was the devoted husband to Karen Smith for 25 years, beloved father of Olivia Taylor and Alexis Vivian, cherished brother of David, Judith Miskill and Faith Perry of Linthicum, Stephen and Daniel of Millersville and Candace Dayton-Lockard of Glen Burnie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orlo Hazen and Jessie Gruwell Dayton. Jon was the treasured uncle to 20 nieces and nephews all of Maryland. Jon was born on June 21, 1955 in Delaware and moved to Linthicum in 1960. He graduated from Andover High School in 1973 and was a long-time employee as a chemical technician at W.R. Grace in Baltimore. Jon loved spending time with his daughters and their friends, coaching and watching them play sports and taking them shopping. He was an avid fan for the Ravens, Orioles and Terrapins. Jon was very hard working and a gifted artist and enjoyed sudoku. He also liked going to the beach, swimming, fishing, bowling and golfing. For many years Jon played softball with Faith Baptist Church and other recreation leagues. He was a favorite friend to many at work and in his community with his talent of humorous storytelling and impersonations.
