Joseph S. Rumenap, Jr., 89 of Glen Burnie, passed away on December 4, 2013 in Baltimore. Joe was born on July 16, 1924 in Baltimore to the late Joseph and Bertie Rumenap. He served in the US Marine Corps during WWII in the Pacific Theater where he received a Purple Heart and later stationed at Parris Island as a Drill Instructor. Joe was the Circulation Manager for the Baltimore News American Newspaper for 44 years by working his way up in the company after starting out as a paper boy. He also served as a Past Commander of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and was active in the Glen Burnie Masonic Lodge #213 and Tall Cedars Annapolis #126. He was a Boy Scout leader of Troop 189 and was a very active member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church. Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Florence Virginia Hein Rumenap; his brothers, Gordon and Alvin "Bubby" Rumenap. He is survived by his devoted children, Joseph S. Rumenap III, Judith Anne Pyle and her husband Nelson Pyle, Jayne Rumenap Barnhardt and her husband, Robert Barnhardt, and Joan Marie Rumenap; his grandchildren, Steffaine Jo Pyle, Anne Marie Conway and husband Gregory Conway, Karen Lynn Perry and Molly Rumenap Barnhardt; his great-grandchildren, Logan James Perry, Zoe Lynn Perry, Hayden Joseph Perry, Taylor Kenyan Conway and Jordon Grace Conway. Joe was loved by all and he will be truly missed.
