Joyce Barbara Fletcher, 71, of Severn, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, May 16, 2019. She was born on March 13, 1948, in Wilmington, North Carolina, to the late Charles L. Griffin and Elizabeth M. Pridgen. Joyce was a dedicated civil service worker as an education technician at the U.S. Naval Academy. She and her husband Gene were members of the VFW and American Legion. Joyce enjoyed drinking her McDonald's mocha frappes, watching her favorite crime shows and soap opera on TV while scrolling on her phone, and shopping online. She also enjoyed looking for ways to help veterans in any way possible.
Joyce was predeceased by her devoted husband, Walter Eugene Gene Fletcher, Jr. and her step-daughter, Erin N. Charrier. She is survived by her son, Walter E. Fletcher, III and step-daughter, Holly D. Fletcher Charrier; her cherished granddaughter, Morgana Fletcher; her step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and her loving siblings, Robert Cassel and his wife Jacqueline, Marlene Crouse and her husband James, and Donna Hedrick and her husband Timothy. Joyce is also survived by many beloved nieces And nephews.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral And Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave, S.W. (at Crain Hwy), in Glen Burnie, on Monday, May 20th , from 3-5 And 7-9 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, May 21st, at 1 PM in the funeral home chapel. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to go to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
