Joyce Phelps

On December 23, 2006, Joyce E. Phelps (nee Ferger) of Ferndale lost her courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Beloved wife of 48 years to Dennis N. Phelps; Devoted mother of Deborah L. Phelps, Mark D. Phelps and his wife Eileen and Kevin M. Phelps; Loving sister of Ronald Ferger and his wife Susan, and Marvin Ferger and his wife Joan; Cherished grandmother of Brooks and Andrew Phelps. She was predeceased by her brothers Kenneth, William and Charles Ferger. Born in Maryland, Joyce lived in Ferndale for 35 years. She worked as a Life Insurance Underwriter for Monumental Life for almost 40 years until she retired. Joyce enjoyed gardening, interior decorating and she loved her dog. But, more than anything, she especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
