Juanita LaVonne Howard

December 10, 1929 — October 14, 2024

Juanita LaVonne Howard, 94, passed away at her home in Glen Burnie on October 14, 2024.  LaVonne was born on December 10, 1929, in Washington, DC to the late Pearl and Thomas Edmondson.  She attended Wilson Teacher’s College, graduating in 1947, while working at Garfield Memorial Hospital.  She cared for many patients over the years at Walter Reed and University of MD Shock Trauma.  LaVonne was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Rejoice Fellowship where she played the piano and organ for many years.  She enjoyed feeding everyone, cooking, playing card games, crocheting rugs and baskets, canning produce, making jelly, and gardening.  But most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.

 LaVonne was predeceased by her devoted husband of 70 years, Luther Elmer Howard, Jr. (Jim) and her beloved daughter, Cheryl Howard.  She is survived by her loving children, Luther Howard III (Buddy), Darlena Ridler, and Dale Howard; and her cherished grandchildren, Michael, Julie, Mark, Nicky, Benjamin, Stephen, Anna, and Matthew; and 6 great grandchildren.

 Interment of both LaVonne and Jim will take place on Thursday, October 24, at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in LaVonne’s name are requested to go to the Building Fund at Rejoice Fellowship at 7606 Quarterfield Rd., Glen Burnie, MD 21061.
