Kathleen P. Machovec, a retired registered nurse and dog breeder, died of cancer Tuesday at Sella Maris Hospice in Timonium. The longtime Pasadena resident was 55. Kathleen Lynch was born in Glen Ridge, N.J. and raised in Rockville. She was a 1969 graduate of Robert E. Peary High School and began working as a licensed practical nurse at a hospital in Bloomington, IL. in 1978. Mrs. Machovec earned a bachelor's degree in nursing in 1980 from Parkland College in Champaign, IL. and in 1983 began nursing at Howard County General Hospital. During her two-decade career, Mrs. Machovec worked at the old University of Maryland Hospital, Harbor Hospital and Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. She was working at Wyman Park Medical Center when she retired on a medical disability in 1993. Mrs. Machovec trained and bred champion Belgian sheepdogs at Wild Winds' Belgians, her kennel at Pinehurst-on-the-Bodkin, where she had lived since 1992. "One of her dogs, Wild Wind's Dancer, won best in breed at the American Kennel Club Eukanuba Invitational in Orlando, Florida, in 2002", said her husband of 21 years, Larry machovec, facilities support manager at The Sun. Mrs. Machovec was a member of the United Belgian Sheepdog Association, Belgian Sheepdog Club of America and the Potomac Valley Sheepdog Association. She also liked ceramics and making porcelain dolls. Also surviving are a son, Domenic Friguglietti, Jr. of Bloomington, IL.; a stepdaughter, Kimberly Daugherty of Owings Mills; her parents, Richard and Lorraine Lynch of Hampstead, NC; three brothers, Bob Lynch of West Palm Beach, FL, Richard Lynch, Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Tom Lynch of Honolulu; and a granddaughter. Her marriage to Domenic Friguglietti, Sr.
