Kenneth Phibbs

February 18, 1930 — August 2, 2016

On August 2, 2016, Kenneth William Phibbs, 86, of Severna Park, passed away at the Baltimore Washington Medical Center. Ken was born on February 18, 1930, in Ottawa, Kansas to the late Lena Bliss Phibbs and George William Phibbs. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Ottawa University in Kansas and served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy in Panama and San Diego. Ken then went on to work for N.S.A. and then Westinghouse and Northrop Grumman. He was a member of the Phoenix Society and enjoyed geology, geneology, science, and artificial intelligence, but most of all, he enjoyed serving others.
Ken is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Elinor R. Phibbs (nee Brauer), whom he met in Germany and married at the Cathedral in Bern, Switzerland; his beloved daughters, Dianne Atkins of Silver Spring, MD and Denise Rizzuto of Alexandria, VA and her husband Chris; his loving grandson, Bryan Atkins; and his cherished great-grandson, Caius Atkins.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral and Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave, SW (at Crain Hwy), in Glen Burnie on Sunday, August 7th from 5-8 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, August 8th, at 1:30 PM at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 308 Oak Manor Drive, Glen Burnie, MD 21061. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution in Ken's name may be made to The American Heart Association at www.heart.org OR The National Kidney Foundation at www.kidney.org OR St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
