Larry Smith

Larry William Smith, 71, of Hanover, Maryland, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2020.  Larry was born on February 4, 1949, in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, to the late Sara Jane and Howard Smith.  He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy, from 1968-1974, as a Sergeant 2nd Class.   Larry then went on to work as a civil servant for almost 40 years at the Department of Defense.  He enjoyed all sports, music, photography, and hiking & biking.

Larry is survived by his best friend, Belinda Davis, his loving children, Karey Swann, Kenny Smith, and Christie Hanna; his cherished grandchildren, Kylie, Kelsie, and Kacie Swann, Abigail and Jacob Smith, and Brooks, Karen, Adrienne, and Annalee Hanna; and his dear siblings, Randy Smith, Nancy Ware, Roberta Persing, Jack Smith, and Joel Smith.

Due to the family’s concerns of the Covid-19 pandemic, all services will be limited to relatives and close friends.  Visitation will be held at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy), on Monday, August 10, from 10:30 AM -12:30 PM.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held immediately following at 12:30, in the funeral home chapel.  Interment in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Larry’s name may be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are only allowing 40 people inside the funeral home at one time and requiring masks for all visitors. We kindly ask that you please keep your visit brief, as there may be people waiting to enter the funeral home.
