On May 5, 2008, Laverne Mary Phillips (nee Carnes) passed on. Laverne was dearly loved by her late husband of 29 years, Leroy C. Phillips, Sr.; her beloved sons, Leroy C. Phillips, Jr., Anthony M. Phillips, Sr. Michael P. Phillips and the late Sidney O. Phillips; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her dear sisters, Jean McGuirk and the late Katherine Cancelero; and her dear brothers, the late Irvin C. and William Carnes. Laverne was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1939. She graduated from St. Martin's High School in Baltimore. She was an Administrative Assistant at the Eastern Petroleum Company and Abacus Security. Laverne enjoyed many hobbies in life. She loved cooking, dancing, golfing and basketball. She was a devout Catholic. She was a woman who was family oriented. Her family always came first. Laverne was a dear woman who will be missed by many.
