Larry was a very good and kind man. He was born December 2, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio. His mother was Ruby Hamilton McBride and his father was John Lawrence Samuel McBride. From the age of 9 until he was 16, Larry was raised in Berea, Ohio children's home. He then lived with his mother until at age 17 he joined the military service in 1945. He retired from the US Air Force after having served 22 1/s years. Then, he worked 10 more years at NSA before he retired. Larry was the devoted husband of Margaret Purdham for 45 years. He also cherished his children, grandsons and great-grandchildren. Sons were Robert and his wife, Fredna of Florida, Morgan (Morey) of Glen Burnie, and Michael and his wife Kandy. Grandsons, Paul and his wife Anna of Halethorpe, and David of Florida. Great-Grandchildre: Brandon, Samantha, Kahlyn and Emily enroute. Granddaughters Melody and Bekka. His daughter Wanda is deceased. He also has a brother, John (Jack) living in Cleveland, Ohio. Larry led a very active and useful life. While in the military service, he had many part-time jobes, wherever he was stationed; in the USA and overseas; bartending, lifeguard, furniture mover and store clerk among others. After he "retired", he became a volunteer fireman and EMT. He was a docent with the B&O Railroad Museum for over 10 years. He also was a member of the Sons of the Severn Barbershop Chorus and a Computer Club and CB Radio Club. He was a member of the American Legion for mor than 50 years. He belonged to the DAV, Air Force Sergeants Association, Retired Enlisted Assn. He was a Mason, a member of Boumi Temple, Chesapeake Consistory, and Howard/Baltimore Lodge. He was an avid reader. He had an extensive 'library' of paper back books he purchased over the years; adventure and detective stories were his favorites. There was always music in his life. He would be hmming, singing softly or whistling wherever he would be, unaware he was doing it, at work or home, or elsewhere. Even though his health began to fail, Larry continued to be active. He lost a lung to cancer and he carried on. After 13 years, he succumbed to his many ailments, most of all he could not longer breathe.
