Leonard George Kaniecki, 77, of Glen Burnie, Maryland, passed away on February 25, 2023, at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. Leonard was born in Baltimore, on March 10, 1945, to the late Sarah and George Kaniecki. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy, achieving the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class. Leonard also served the citizens of Baltimore as a police officer, and then went on to work for the Labor Board, working his way up to a supervisor of Wage and Hourly Investigations. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 160 and he enjoyed watching television – especially Westerns, cooking, woodcarving, raising show dogs – Belgian sheep dogs, and spending time with his family.
Leonard is survived by his devoted girlfriend of 35 years, Deborah Stranski; his beloved son, Leonard A. Kaniecki and his wife, Amy; and his cherished grandchildren, Leonard A. Kaniecki, Jr. and his wife, Olivia, and Katie Kaniecki.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Singelton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Avenue, S.W. (at Crain Hwy), in Glen Burnie, on Monday, March 6th, from 11 AM – 1 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held immediately following at 1 PM, in the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
