Linda “Cookie” Chandler (Kakuk), 67, of Pasadena, MD, passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2024, at the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center. She was born on July 24, 1957, in Baltimore, MD, to the late Albert and Geraldine “Jerry” Kakuk. Cookie was the devoted wife of Sheldon Wayne Chandler, Sr., her husband of 40 years. She was a caring, vibrant, and generous women who opened her heart lovingly to family and friends. She had a special place in her heart for all children and was a constant source of warmth and kindness.
Cookie is survived by her husband and children: Buzzy (Lucky) Harmon of Pasadena, MD; Sheldon Chandler Jr and his wife, Christina Chandler, of Palm Coast, FL; and Rhonda Wilson of Mannington, West Virginia. She was the loving grandmother to nine grandchildren: Emma Harmon, Landon Harmon, Zachary Chandler, Joshua Chandler, Keith Klunk, Emily Chandler, Jonathan Chandler, Julian Daily, and Skyler Green, as well as one great-grandchild, Demion Klunk.
She is also survived by her beloved siblings: John Kakuk, Susan Harris, Bill Kakuk, Charlene Clutter, Mary David, Wayne Scott and preceded in death by Larry Kakuk, Julia Kakuk, and Buzzy Chronister. Cookie is also fondly remembered by many other extended family members and friends to include Shiryl Garrison and Jane Gavin Jaeger, who admired her sense of humor and bright presence in their lives.
The family will receive friends from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, 1 2nd Avenue SW, Glen Burnie, MD 21061. In honor of Cookie’s love for children, the family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
