On February 14, 2013, Lloyd Earl Hammel, 97, a longtime resident of Linthicum, passed away at Anne Arundel Medical Center. He was born in Baltimore, MD on August 21, 1915 to the late Edna and Harry Hammel. Lloyd served in the United States Navy during World War II as an Electrician's Mate Second Class. He was employed with F.M.C. Chemical Manufacturing in Baltimore as a supervisor. He was a member of Linthicum Heights United Methodist Church for almost 60 years where he also volunteered. He enjoyed gardening, yard work, fishing, volunteering at the church and with Meals on Wheels, and also dancing with his wife. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 66 years, Mary C. Hammel and his son, Robert L. Hammel. He is survived by his loving son, Donald W. Hammel and wife Joyce; his four cherished grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
