Louis Eugene Szech, 96, peacefully departed this life on April 10, 2025.  Born in Baltimore, he was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Rozalia Szczech.

Louis dedicated a significant portion of his professional life to C&P / Bell Atlantic, where he applied his expertise and unwavering work ethic.  In addition to his career, he served with honor as a Major in the Army National Guard, reflecting his commitment to service.  His contributions to the community extended further as a member of the local chapter of the AARP, where he actively engaged with others to enhance the lives of senior citizens.

A lifelong devotee of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Louis demonstrated his faith through service and participation in church activities.  He found joy in traveling and spending leisurely days at Ocean City.  Known for his remarkable skills as a handyman, he had a unique ability to fix anything that came his way.

Louis was an avid sports fan, passionately cheering for the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens, as well as for the Baltimore Colts during their time in the city.  However, above all pursuits and interests, his heart belonged to his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He thrived on being a guiding force in their lives, supporting them with love and encouragement.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Helen T. Szech; granddaughter, Rachel Hudson; and his four siblings.

Louis is survived by his loving children, Robert J. Szech, Carol A. Ferraro, Andrea J. Hudson and Suzanne M. Bathon; cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Jason, Lauren, Aaron, Nicole, Daniel, Abby, Bethany, Alyssa and Elizabeth; adored great-grandsons, Nicholas, J. “Ace,” and Jackson.  He will also be missed by his dear companion, Helen Lawhorn.

Visitation will be held at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, Glen Burnie, on Monday, April 21st, from 5 – 8 PM.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, 10 AM, at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church.  Interment to follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Dundalk.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by visiting www.stjude.org
