M. Edward Sparks, 76, a 50-year resident of Glen Burnie, died July 23 at North Arundel Health & Rehab. Center in Glen Burnie after a lengthy illness. He was born November 26, 1932 in Eastman, Georgia to the late Millard Fillmore and Thelma Louise Sparks. Mr. Sparks was owner of Maryland Wallcovering Company for 35 years with installations in the Tri-State area. He also participated in restorations of many historic mansions and government buildings, such as the Chatham Manor in Lexington, Virginia and the hanging of hand-painted murals in Union Station in Washington, D.C. He was in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years, serving in Korea and Naval Reserve until his retirement. He was a former member of the Glen Burnie Jaycees, Glen Burnie Rotary and A.A. County Mental Health Assn. He enjoyed sports and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Bahnlein Sparks, his son, M. Edward Sparks, Jr. of Glen Burnie and daughter, Lynne Skallos of Severna Park, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 4 sisters, all in Georgia.
