On Tuesday, November 22, 2022, Magdalena ‘Nena’ Chenowith passed away at her home in Pasadena at the age of 79. Magdalena was born on November 11, 1943, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Margaret and Modesto Manalansan. She graduated from Southern High School and was a master barber. She enjoyed playing board games and cards with her grandchildren, playing slots at the casino, and spending quality time with her family.
Magdalena was predeceased by her devoted husband of 52 years, John L. Chenowith. She is survived by her loving children, Troy Chenowith and his wife Yamile, Tracey Born and her husband Dave, and Jennifer Maduro and her husband Calvin; her cherished grandchildren, Cortnie Chenowith and her significant other Aaron Schwartz, Jessica Chenowith, David, Zachary, and Nathaniel Born, Jayden and Isabella Maduro, Mailon, Michael, and Matthew Abreu Paulino, and Carolina Pena Paulino; her beloved great-grandson, Noah Schwartz; her dear siblings, Elizabeth Bodenbach, Frank Manalansan, Robin Whittington, Michele Fontz, and Joseph Manalansan; and many nieces and nephews . She was also predeceased by her siblings Patricia Alfaro, Modesto Manalansan Jr., Dennis Manalansan, Barbara Buckmaster, James Manalansan, Linda Barrett, and Mark Manalansan.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. S. W. (at Crain Hwy) on Monday, November 28th, from 5-8 PM. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Magdalena’s name may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Maryland, at www.kidneymd.org .
