On Saturday, February 21, 2015, Margie A. Boschert of Linthicum, MD reached the final destination of her life's fabulous ride of 95 years.
Born on September 8, 1919 in Camp Creek, Floyd Co., Virginia, Margie was the daughter of John Clifford Anderson and Winnie Whitlock Anderson.
Margie attended Christiansburg High School where she captained the women's basketball team and graduated in 1939.
During World War II, Margie was employed as a bandoleer Government Inspector in Floyd, VA prior to enlisting in the US Navy in June 1944. She was a Pharmacist Mate 3/c stationed at Bethesda Naval Hospital and Naval Operating Base Norfolk, VA where she worked in orthopedics, cardiac care and obstetrics. She was honorable discharged in February 1946.
Margie attended Richmond Professional Institute/Medical College of Virginia from September 1946 to June 1949 and graduated with a degree in Occupational Therapy.
Her clinical training included placements at the Cripple Children's Home in Florence, SC where she worked with cerebral palsy rheumatic fever and orthopedic children; Shepherd and Enoch Pratt Hospital, Baltimore for neuropsychiatry; and the VA Hospital, Richmond with general medicine, tuberculosis and neuropsychiatry.
Beginning her professional career as an Occupational Therapist at Glenn Dale Sanitarium for TB in Glenn Dale, MD in 1950 and continuing at the VA Hospitals at Fort Howard and Baltimore until retiring in 1977 from Taylor Manor Psychiatric Hospital in Columbia, MD, Margie's tireless dedication and commitment to her patients remained unwavering throughout.
Continuing her zest for life during her retirement years, Margie was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Hospice of the Chesapeake and the Baltimore Symphony House Tours. She was a member of the General Federation Women's Club of Linthicum for more than 35 years and was a staple of the Beautification and Garden committee as well as the annual Holly Mart. Margie loved gardening, landscaping, decorating, fashion, theater and reading. Despite enduring dialysis treatments, beginning at the age of 93, Margie remained vibrant to the end!
Margie was the beloved mother of Susie B. Willis, son-in-law Gibson Willis and loving grandmother of Christopher Gibson Willis and Matthew John Willis. She is survived by her sister Barbara Anderson of Richmond, VA and a host of nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.
Her devoted husband of 47 years, John Francis Boschert, and siblings Bula A. Shelburne, Mary Ruth Cruce, Walter G. Anderson, Katherine A. Shelor, Merlene A. Page and Blanche A. Workman predeceased her.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 27th from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at Singleton Funeral Home where a Memorial Service will be conducted at 9:30 AM on Saturday, February 28th followed by Interment at Our Lady of the Fields, Millersville with Military Honors.
