Marion Wassel

Marion Emily Wassel died on Monday, August 27, 2007, at the age of 84. An avid traveler, she lived in Japan and Germany before settling in Annapolis with her family. In 1988, she received her Associate of Arts degree with honors from Anne Arundel Community College, and in 1994, she retired from a twenty-year career in the Anne Arundel County Public Library System. She is survived by her 8 children; Micki, Jackie, Nikki, Ray Jr., Michael, Chris, Damian and David; 24 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, who loved her deeply and will remember fondly her laughter, wit and stories. She is predeceased by two brothers and one sister. Marion was known fondly as "Matt" to her family and friends. She was a "professional" at going to yard sales and also enjoyed collecting dolls. Matt was talented at sewing, knitting and crocheting. She was an excellent cook and once baked 120 dozen cookies (all different kinds) at Christmas! Matt also enjoyed growing flowers. She was a special lady with a love for life and an endless generosity. Please note: A picnic celebration will follow the memorial service on Saturday. Casual dress appropriate; formal attire not required - we hope you will be able to attend.
