Martha Britenstine

On April 9, 2009, Martha Elfrieda Britenstine, a resident of Severn for over 50 years, passed away at Future Care Chesapeake due to a lengthy illness. Beloved wife of 60 years to the late Sergeant Edgar Lee Britenstine; loving mother of Lilyan Jarmer, Edgar Britenstine, Jr., Janet Rose Pogar, Diana Britenstine, and the late Henry Britenstine; cherished grandmother of ten; devoted great grandmother of six; and caring great great grandmother of two. Martha was born in Germany to the late Leonhard and Katharina Arnodt. Although she was born in Germany, she became an American citizen in the 1950's, and was very proud of that; she loved the United States. Martha worked at Fort Meade as a dry cleaner; she took care of all the uniforms for the service men and met several generals during her employment. She greatly enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and spending time with her dog, Muffin.
