Martin Eichhorn

Martin J. "Marty" Eichhorn, 83, a resident of Anne Arundel County for 55 years, passed away at his home on November 12, 2015. He was born in Lonaconing, Maryland on December 17, 1931 to the late Martin and Agnes Eichhorn. He graduated from Central High School in Lonaconing and served his country proudly in the United States Navy on the LST 1081 from 1951-1955. Marty continued with his education, graduating with a Bachelor's from Frostburg State and a Master's in Education from the University of Maryland. He started his teaching career in 1960 at Severna Park High School and went on to become principal with several Anne Arundel County Public Schools. While serving as principal, he served two terms as president of Maryland Secondary School Principal's Association and was also on the Board of Directors for National Association of Secondary School Principals and Board of Directors for National Congress of PTA. Marty founded the family business, Eichhorn Insurance Agency in 1963, where he remained active until his passing. He holds membership with Maryland Secondary School Principal's Association, National Association of Secondary School Principals, the Annapolis Elks and National LST Association.
In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by his brother, August Eichhorn.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, JoAnn; daughter, Nancy Eichhorn and her fiancé, Joseph Murray; two sisters, Ruth Armstrong and husband Jack, Lesta Llewellyn and husband Marvin; and sister-in-law, Edna Eichhorn. He will also be missed by his extended family of Eichhorn Agency, Carolyn Wilson, Johanna Gartside and Lisa Bayliss.
